While everyone was making plans for the grand reopening of Bangkok, Chiang Mai and other top locations throughout the country, the tourism ministry of Thailand rescheduled the reopening yet again.

I’m going to pass and here’s why…

Fully vaccinated tourists are not guaranteed to enter Thailand without mandatory quarantine. Not too long ago a plane with fully vaccinated tourists flew into Phuket in the hope to enjoy a hassle free entry. As it turned out, one person on her flight tested positive and everyone on that flight had to quarantine in Phuket.

The visa situation is also not at its best. Yes, you get 45 days and a possible extension but most mid term visas are not available at this moment in time.

You’re required to wear a mask indoors and outdoors. Imagine how comfortable that would be considering the high temperature and humidity.

Many businesses won’t be open or operate at limit capacity. No fully body massages, bars or nightclubs.

Dating won’t be as usual. Girls will be reluctant to date you and where will you date them anyway? Probably best to invite them back to your place and have a drink there.

And what happens if a new variant arrives? Will more restrictions be the put in place?

I know this tourism update on Thailand is not what you expected but it is the harsh a reality of this pandemic.

What I am going to do..

I’ve been considering Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Bulgaria and Georgia. All places with fewer restrictions.

Most businesses are open and in many countries in Latin America you are not required to wear a mask outdoors.

Travel halfway round the world to be treated like a prisoner in a Thai hotel? No thanks. What's sadder is that so many young Thai people have lost their jobs and are so poor now, they have left Bangkok because they are unable to pay rent and moved back up country to stay with their parents.

No way will I quarantine. I will be double vaccinated. I live in Krabi and plan to go to Chiangmai, if there are any restrictions, I won’t go. Except the vaccine certificate. Everything changes every day, it seems, different rules for every city. A big pain the arse.

I agree. No way is any working person going to just through all the hoops, pay all the money and still may not even be allowed to go outside the box. Only people I see coming are retired guys living there. I won't even consider going to and spending money in Thailand until the government says no quarantine and no paperwork other than a proof of vaccine or covid test.

Where are you getting your information from??? Ministry just announced yesterday 15 Oct will open to vaccinated tourist without 14 day quarantine….

I have a home in Chiangmai but haven't been there for a couple of years. If they do the sandbox in CM, I may consider it if I don't have to jump through a bunch of hoops.

Very good video, fair and reasonable. The fact is that all the lunacy associated with this PANICdemic are not going away fully anytime soon. It will be 2025 before normality might start to return and the various sectors able to function as before 2020.

The Mask MADNESS OUTDOORS plus the various , rules , regulations, RISKS, hassle, harrasment. expense and time and aggitation, irritation and generally miserable situation on the ground in Thailand render a holiday there an insane and unpleasant , nasty experience that is liable to be nothing like the Amazing Thailand we all know and love so well.

Simple reality is STAY AWAY from Thailand for at least a couple of years SADLY, Maybe 2025 or if exceptionally lucky maybe 2024 might be ok.

NEWS FLASH: Just because you are fully vaccinated, doesn't mean you can't spread COVID-19. The CDC recently made such observation. This is a HUGE misconception that many folks who've been vaccinated don't seem to understand.

When you see all the vloggers leaving thailand and going back home to a place they said they never would go back too , you know its in a bad place

Fell in love with Thailand and it’s so sad to see the Thai government constantly change things. I’m waiting for Bali or maybe Europe soon. Thailand is the shambles right now. I ain’t going in quarantine either. England’s way better right now. I’m having a blast.

I am thinking of going to Bangkok and Pattaya at Christmas. Do you think it will be back to normal by then? I do not mind getting vaccinated and taking a PCR test but not much more.

Thanks for the info. At the moment i am looking to go in December, for about half a year.
Hoping that somewhere in early 2022, Malaysia and India will be opening. Altough i like some entertainment mostly i am looking to go for volunteer work and meditation.
Love to hear your thoughts on Malaysia and India!

Its just screwed everywhere….Governments / United Nations are bullying everyone now thanks to the invention of the internet and mobile phones. Until people start to realise this in the majority, and descide to not take part, limit internet use on their phones, nothing will be as it was anywhere

Well said, absolutely right to reject Thailand's ridiculous games, brilliant summary of the current situation and choices, Albania for me no restrictions at all, the only people going to Thailand will be dodgy old western men with"girlfriends"
