We travelled to the infamous province of Kanchanaburi. Kanchanaburi is 2 hours away by van from Bangkok.
Kanchanaburi is rich with history dating back to WW2.
Bridge over the River Kwai – this is famous due to the old movie with the same name. There is no information providing the history of the bridge. But it is a must see in Kanchanaburi.
Death Railway – This is one of my highlights. Incredibly beautiful vistas all around and you can walk along the railway if you are not afraid of heights and no safety barrier!
Lava Cave – One of the bigger caves in Kanchanaburi. Spectacular and full of fruit bats.
Hellfire Pass – There is a certain macabre atmosphere walking around here with the knowledge of so much suffering and unecessary death. It is a must see.
Wat Tham Sua – For me this was a hidden gem. You need your own transport to get there, it is about 15 minutes drive from town. It is well worth the drive. For me, one of the more beautiful and serene temples I had visited in Thailand.
