CNN recently stated that Bangkok is the best city in the world for street food. While on a recent Bangkok holiday I went searching for the best street food in Bangkok. After an hour or so of Googling the overwhelming consensus seemed to be Yaowarat Road in Bangkok Chinatown, so that’s where I headed. It was a good decision.

Yaowarat Road is the most famous road in Chinatown and the locals use “Yaowarat” as the name for the whole area. From about 5pm until after midnight it transforms from a busy business area into a hub of Thai street food. As well as the main road, there are also loads of little streets and alleyways running off of it that also house dozens of restaurants and street food vendors. There is so much variety, and the food is all very good quality. The competition there is so stiff and quality so high that only the best vendors can survive there. Seafood is definitely a speciality in the area, but you’ll also find all sorts of other Thai street food & Thai cuisine and the prices start from about 40 – 50 THB per dish.
Bangkok Chinatown is considered to be the birthplace of street food in Thailand from when the Chinese settled there around 200 years ago and it is a prime foodie destination. Popular choices include Thai soups and stir fry, dim sum, oyster omelets, and all things seafood, especially barbecued seafood. There are also loads of Thai desserts and many exotic Thai fruits on offer, including durian. If you love authentic Thai street food you must visit Chinatown in Bangkok. There are literally hundreds of street stalls, markets, food carts and restaurants and it is without doubt some of the best street food in Bangkok.
When you visit Thailand, be sure to explore the amazing Bangkok street food. You’ll find delicious street food everywhere in Thailand, no matter if you’re in Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya or Krabi, and it’s very easy to do a Thai street food crawl from vendor to vendor sampling a little at each. Thai Street Food is really delicious, it’s a must to try if you’re on holidays in Thailand. There are so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it for 3 years in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!
